Thread: carbon arc with the power arc 160

Default carbon arc with the power arc 160

i've gotten to the point where my chop saw is getting kinda useless on some cuts. and the only other way to cut was turning my amps all the way up and using some old 6013 electrodes. it stats that the 200 is recomended for carbon arc cutting but what about the 160? using the 15' 40a torch?

You can give it a try, just keep in mind the duty cycle of the machine. How thick is the material?

most of it is 1/8" thick i dont have much of a issue turning it up to 150 and using 6011 to cut parts off. it's not for a long period of time usually till i see weld puddles build up then i move to another spot to cut and come back to finish cutting until i can either break the pieces off or cut'em. all i have to say is what i have used my 160 for this thing does more than it's rated for. now on the other hand if you guys sold a plasma around $300-400 i;d jump on it at the end of September if

Call in and ask for Oleg (during the week). You might get close on the price, we might have extra older model replacement units in inventory. Let him know you own one of our welders too.

Are you a member of Pirate4x4.com? We run some pretty good specials over there.

Mention P4x4 too. Catch Alex in a good mood.

Have not been on ih8mud in some time. I left a post or two helping a guy with a welding or cutting issue and a Charles### was all over me that I was there to sell welders or something.

I personally own a couple trucks, in fact, I and might pickup a 95 (351) Bronco today with 38's on it. But the Charles guy turned me off the place and I stopped reading there. The owner and a Spike guy backed me up. But that was some time ago. I told the owner of the forum we might want to be a vendor when I created my account and he was all good.

Far as the plasma, when you get one, you'll wonder what you did without one. Great tool, I "drill" no holes over 1/4" anymore, it's very fast too.
