Well I added a cooler to my 256 and man does it make a difference in the torch temp.. Not the welding but the torch did not even get warm while using it , I even cranked it up to 200 amps on some thick aluminum and ran some beads for a while and no difference in torch temp. Really will make a difference in a long project . I recommend if you dont have a Everlast at least make up something , but for the money the W300 is hassle free . The 256 does not have the reciptical on the back like the 250EX does for the cooler (hint hint ) but what I ended up doing was just took a computer plug and cut the end off and wired it directly into my extention receptical for my 256 so it is simple to do and the cooler only draws an amp so it will not overload the computer extension for that application.. Works great..
