Bucket Rake

These gizmos are available commercially, but by the time I paid shipping and tax from Tractor Supply the price is around $400. I made my own out of 1/2" thick 4" A36 angle. All cut with the PP 256 plasma cutter.

Everything including the straps and chain was about 150. I had to buy the steel new, did not have any that size.

The points will wear down pretty quickly, they will wear to a rounded point then pretty much stay that way for some time.

Tony, a little hardfacing will keep them nice and well formed. Should be easy to do. If you can't get hardfacing, stainless may help reduce the erosion.

Funny you should mention that, I used the rake pretty hard today and was moving along in reverse when the rake snagged on a big root that did not give and it bent in the middle like ) . I believe it was because of the pointed teeth, they have not rounded over yet from use, the teeth on the commercial rake are rounded, probably for that very reason. I straightened the rake with a press and added the 3rd middle strap, but not have not tried it yet. I may also take the grinder to it tomorrow and round the points a bit.

Did you freehand those cuts or did u use an edge to drag next to because they look really good
