Any chance of a retrofit kit? make a older unit go digital? Or will there be a PP256T?
Any Idea on price?
and not to be a BIG stick in the mud, but I like the current models handle!

Again, the units we have now are not changing. They are fixed and remain the same. No you cannot upgrade. The technology is very different for the digital machines.

So not to beat a dead horse, but when will you know price on the new machines?
I'd hate to have a pp256 as only a plasma cutter..... so will there be a digital multi function machine in the future?
What would rock my world would be a hybrid digital display and knobs! and one single handle like the current machines!
No,
Slick,
There aren't any plans for that now. The idea of offering digital machines is to break into the industrial arena and provide a higher end machine for serious commercial customers. The multifunction tig/plasma machines typically do not fit into that demographic right now. True Multi-Process welder do however, and that is the direction the digital units are heading.

To follow up with that last post, the new PowerMTS 160 and 200S are the latest welders to be introduced from Everlast.
Self contained, and portable, are two things that come to mind when coming up with things to say about the units. Digitally based MIG, DC TIG, and STICK capability are features of both units, with self contained wire feeder and built in TIG torch gas valve with 2T and 4T control. Also, it features down slope and post flow control. For MIG and Stick performance, the units feature wave form control that varies the inductance of the machine.
The 160 offers regular function MIG while the 200S is synergic in function. This means the basic parameters of wire diameter and wire type are entered and automatic adjusting of the wire speed is accomplished as the voltage is changed. But for times when the wire speed needs a little tweaking, the unit features alternate function which allows normal control of MIG wire speed and voltage. Some people might consider this similar to the Auto Set of Miller, but in actuality, it is much more advanced and precise compared the the "preset" that Milller uses.
When I figure out what is wrong, I will load the pictures. I had a recent update, and it says I am missing a security token.

Here's our completely NEW unit from Everlast. Its the PowerTig 185 MICRO and has been in development for over a year. It is a breakthrough product for us and the imported welder industry. Its a ground up new AC/DC unit 185 amps with 35% duty cycle at 160 amps. It features basic AC/DC operation with foot pedal or switch control, with presets on all functions. It is a good little tig unit for the user looking for basic features and controls without complicated functions. We do offer the basic AC balance and Frequency controls that match our 250 EX specs so that users can find their sweet spot when welding aluminum.
No, it doesn't have stick or pulse...it does what a TIG does and does it quite well. Its great for the beginner and prosumer level buyer, or even the fab shop that isn't interested in all the bells and whistles, and just want to get down to some serious tig welding.
Speaking of sweet spots: the price....$849.00
Production deliveries should start in January. We expect demand to be very heavy, and preorders are being accepted now.

I'm awaiting patiently for my new 250EXT to arrive but I had 2 questions.
If you get a chance could you post a picture of the back side of the unit. I wanted to see what the conenection on the back look like and if there was some type of power output for a cooler?
Also I noticed on one of the front pannel pictures that the control for AC balance was labeled % clean but was on the electrode negative side of the graph. Shouldn't that be on the electrode positive side? Maybe I'm wrong. All the threads on welding web disapeared all of a sudden so I don't have anything to go by.
Thanks!
We are reworking the panels...anything I have would not be representative.

Just curious when we migh get to see some of the new models on the site. I check almost every day.. I see some revamping has been done tho. looks good.
Hi It's almost been a month since I posted last. I wanted to follow up on the pannels and the cooler for the EXT. Last you replied they were reworking the pannels for the new EXT.
Do you have photo's of the reworked units? (Specifically connections and panels)
Alex said there would be a custom water cooler made for the EXT units. What is the status of that?
Thanks!
When will the EXT be available? I looks sweet. Being able to reproduce settings is a plus. Are they still going to be as affordable as the EX line?
No, they won't be as affordable, there will be some significant price increases over the regular EX line. But it will still be thousands less than a Dynasty 350. You get more, you pay more, so to speak. But I can tell you this, there is no comparison, after having tested and used both products. I have not found any other brand, including Miller and Lincoln and even our current powertig line that has the stability and ease of start that this unit has. Its simply unexplainable. I mean it is strong too. I was getting 100% penetration on flat 3/32 metal at 75 amps. Beautiful welds. The 315 production should start soon. They will be 3 phase 460 though. The 250's are not ready for production yet. But I have a pic here of a half hearted test plate I turned out the other night, playing around. The plate is 3/8" open root plate. Root pass was about 60 amps with 3/32 filler and 3/32 tungsten...I laid several beads, one over the other, running each one a little shorter than the other, to give a tapered out effect so you could see the pass under the one on top of it. The last pass was made at 130 amp with 3/32 tungsten and 1/8 rod.

I love the simplicity of my 250ex , once you get the hang of the settings a couple simple turns of a few knobs and your set , no menus or sub menus to putz around with. Simple but at the same time feature packed. Got my bottle today and payed arund for about 30mins figuring out settings, went from tack welding soda cans to welding up a 3/8 inch alum bracket for my wheelchair. Then 2 switches, up the amps plug in the stick electrode and I'm welding 1/2 steel with the slag curling up behind me as i go.
sweet machine!!!

The knobs are not bad once you figure them out and it doesn't take long. Also you can glance at the unit and see what you need to tweak, rather tap buttons and go through menus. That I like as well.
But with the MTS you can dial in numbers too, you just get use to knowing the values for the thickness/metal and it will not be bad. And I think it has 10 preset (or it did). So you can set them and put a note on the side of the machine. 0 = 1/4 aluminum, 1-1/4 steel, etc.

well I'm only 45 and all my presets still work, I also cheat .... my camera built into my phone is great for when I find the golden setting for a particular metal and thickness. and with the car mount I attached to my wheelchair my phone is always inches away. Besides I need a plasma cutter alot more than upgrading to the latest and greatest . I had to cut a damn piece of half inch plate that was 6 x 6" square in half with a hacksaw yesterday because I was afraid my cutting torch would remove too much metal and by the time I milled the edges square I wouldn't have enough left on either side. Worked out great was able to use both pieces ( Needed two pieces 2-3/4 x 5" ) but took me 45 mins to cut ROFL
