    Default Everlast 200 dx tig

Hello Walt, so does that tell ya how old I am? Been welding stick & mig since the early 80's just bought a tig I know nothing but what I've read & I read this forum & []it looked like a lot of knowledgeable guys on it so here's my question if I'm using the hand remote I can use the amp read out & if I'm using the foot pedal I can't . How do I know how much amps I'm using with the foot pedal, & when using the hand remote why does the amps jump around after I start welding Example I'll set it at 70 amps for .063 & start welding ( if you wanna call it that) & I get a #10 on the screen??? I know from reading the manual you have up & down slope & that the amps would drop but the read out has got me going bonkers. Can one of you out there give me a set up, knob by knob so I can at least start practiceing Thank you cheeks

    Cheeks,
In reality is it basic math. 0-10 is 0-200 amps. You are setting a percentage of the maximum amps. Roughly, 1 is 10 percent, 2 is 20 percent of 200 amps etc.

So what is your display reading? Was the number you gave exact or was it an example? There is no # sign. Typically the amps used during welding are reflected on the screen real time even with a foot pedal. A maximum amperage value, on the screen for foot pedal is of limited value, though the more expensive units do have this feature. You cannot look at the screen and monitor your amps while welding. Using a foot pedal is art not science. You will always allow extra amps, more than you need when setting max amps on a foot pedal.

If the display jumps around, it means the pulse is on. If you are having issues, feel free to call in and we can get you pointed in the right direction.

Hello Mark, when I typed #10 I meant number10 I'm getting better response from my machine been turning dials & trying stuff. I found that if I'm using the hand remote say at 95 amps & I put the pulse amps at 95 also the read out doesn't jump around I put post freak in about the middle or pointing straight up,& down slope about 4 marks up is that 20? & post flow at about 5. The welds are getting better & I'm not touching the tungsten as much but my feed hand is really lame so I'm sitting in front of the tv trying to move the filler rod in my fingers. Am I getting close to sounding right ? Thanks for any help , as soon as I get steel down I'm going on to aluminum, & copper( I do art stuff) cheeks

    Cheeks,
Please, go ahead and call me tomorrow at the number below in the morning. I will give you some quick and easy things to do to get started and up to speed on that little unit. The "jumping" around is perfectly normal. Don't forget you are pulsing between two amperages. The unit "samples" the output at a different rate than what your pulse hz is set to....thus the different and wildly fluctuating pulse settings. Unless you turn your pulse hz down to nothing, split your pulse time 50/50 you will not be able to get a steady and true pulse amp settings.

Its sort of like a strobe light effect. You are only seeing what is happening during the flash or sampling of the amps, and not what happens in between. This is normal. If you turn pulse off, which I highly suggest until your skills develop, you won't see this bouncing.

If you are using the pedal, turn everything down except 3 or 4 seconds of postflow.
