    Default New CT520D Setup Help

I have just finished setting up my CT520D 3-n-1 to try out the plasma cutting feature without being able to start a cutting arc  . I'll run through my hook up/startup procedure:

-I'm using a dedicated 50amp circuit with dual 25amp breakers.
-Receptacle plug is the four prong type, so the three wires from the welder are attached as blue to one 110v and brown to the remaining 110v and green to ground and neutral is empty.
-At the back of the machine I'm running 8 gauge copper to 8' copper rod driven fully in as my earth ground.
-Air supply is set to 65psi which is running through an air drying filter, air filter w/ water catcher.

With air pressure correct, switch set to cut, work piece grounded I'll attempt to cut, when I pull the trigger air pressure is released and small intermittent sparks will extend about a 1/16" from the tip to work piece with really no noise besides the air flow. Amperage adjustments do not make a difference. I tried to remedy this by adjusting the HF gap as the tutorial describes also without any change; except it created a electric "zzzzzzzzzzzz" noise from the box at the HF gap with each trigger pull. Lastly the on/off switch will not toggle to the off position (the rocker switch will rock to off but it remains illuminated and springs itself back to the "on" position)

I know this is lengthy but I wanted to include as much information to give you guys. Any suggestions to fix this will be greatly appreciated! Would weldingweb.com be helpful?

The CT520 units run on a single 110 volt leg (LED display, fan, etc). It takes both legs, 220volts ac, to run the plasma and TIG inverter. So it's possible one of the hot legs are not connected at the power cord or the power switch is bad and blocking one leg.

If you could email support@everlastwelders.com your contact phone number and a time you will be with the unit, that would be a faster way to troubleshoot the issue. Also, send your address so we can get a switch out to you right away.
