225LX, New, Updated or redesigned?

I am curious. Is the 225LX a completely new model for 2009-2010 (or earlier)or is it a scaled down version of the 250XX model? If there has been an update, what was updated? Just wondering about the engineering, etc. Was the 225LX something that Everlast requested or just another tier of welder that the manufacturer builds? Do all these machines come from the same factories? Where in asia (and by what company) are these welders built?

The 225 LX was introduced November 2009. The predecessor 200 and 250 lx's were fine, but did not have a good place in the line. Instead of canceling the lx all together, we felt like there was room for an intermediate featured machine, so we eliminated the 200 and 250 and created the entirely new 225lx with improved and added features and an at amperage level that fell at a desirable point. Just as with the rest of the line and its features are produced exclusively for us. The LX shares many of the same features of the EX including the module construction. The welders are built in China, but as for the rest of the information, we do not share that information at a public level.

Mark, Sorry if it seemed I was trying to unearth "hold close" info. I like being in the know on the equipment I purchase, so, I try to go to the horses mouth (not the other end) for that data. I read a number of things on the net about Everlast and some folks comments aren't always flattering. I research to the point that I feel knowledgeable enough to allay my personal concerns, and when engaged in a conversation/disagreement to know what I speak of is not hearsay or rumor. I once got into a discussion concerning an "american made" issue, only to pop open the case of a device to photograph the components within. This was to prove the point that "don't believe everything you read".
I am also always suprised at how resistant people are to change. When I bought a Miller MIG welder, while doing my research I kept hearing folks complain about the cost of the equipment. Well, you folks come out with a intermediate machine with a high degree of adjustability, reasonably priced, and a great warranty and you'd have thought you guys had got caught commiting crimes against nature, sheep that is!
This internet thing is pretty cool, but I've seen it used for pretty vicious things, including character assassination.
