  1. Default Alternative tig torch selecton for pp205

    Hi,
Has anybody used a smaller and lighter air cooled tig torch for the pp205?

I'm used to a very much lighter and smaller Lincoln tig torch. I would still like a tig torch that has the on/off switch built into the handle.

If you are using a different torch, did you have to buy a special adapter to plug into the inverter? It looks like the Everlast end connector is proprietary. Or I may be wrong and is universal.

Any aftermarket model numbers or links would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Rod,
The problem your going to run into by going to a smaller 9 series air cooled torch, will be only being able to use around 130 amps of your machines rated 200 amp output. Changing to a aftermarket torch shouldn't be a problem at all, in fact should be really simple if going to a air cooled setup instead of water cooled.

I'm not familiar with your machine, and someone from Everlast will correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the PP205 uses the same torch as the PP256, which I think uses the same torch as my 250EX that I just updated torch's on.
If they indeed do all have the same dinse connector, updating is easy.
    See this thread:

If your planning on going over 130amps, your going to have to either go with a larger air cooled torch, or go water cooled with a smaller torch.
As far as a torch mounted switch, you can buy one from Everlast that will plug directly into your machine, and mount on the aftermarket torch with zip ties. (don't worry about the zip ties, it looks clean once mounted)
