Thread: Cut50d

    Default Cut50d

I purchased a CUT50D a few years back and just started to use it.

It works OK, but I'm sure it could use an alignment.

By any chance does anyone have a copy of the schematic, service manual, or any alignment procedures that they would be willing to share?

    Thanks,

    Ken

    Ken,
There's not much "alignment" to do. Just clean and check your point gap. There is a manual posted online. If its starting good though, there isn't much to do.

If you can't find the manual, PM me your email and I will send it to you via email. I had a guy last week asking for a manual for a Cut50D (we have not sold them for some time) and I remade the .PDF manual and sent it to him, so I still have it. He said it was not in our manuals page which I thought it was like Mark mentioned.

You bought a plasma cutter a few years ago and are just firing it up?

    Unfortunately, yes... :-(

I had a few things come up that stopped me from working on my project, but I am back on track now. :-)

If it is just the owners manual, I have this. If it contains schematics, and/or alignment procedures, I would definitely appreciate it and will PM you my e-mail address.

Thanks to both of you for the advice,

    Ken

    Bump...

Anybody with a service manual or schematic?

My box works OK for a cut or two and then the arc quits for no reason during following cuts. So, I would like to do an alignment if possible and maybe take a measurement or two to see if I can figure out why the arc stops.

    TIA,

    Ken

    Again,
There isn't any such of thing as an "Alignment" procedure. And we don't release proprietary schematics. If you have a specific problem then we will answer on a case by case basis. We have repeated this many times on the forum. And as was mentioned before, also, the manual is online on the site...

Like I posted above, I have an operator manual, and your post wasn't quite clear to me as to what you were offering...

So if the schematics and parts lists are proprietary, this is a big disadvantage to buying the Everlast product - I guess I should have discussed this with Alex before I purchased.

My arc quits intermittently after a few passes, any ideas? I have clean dry air at 60 psi continuous with no leaks, and new consumables, so it appears electronic...

EDIT: Since my model is discontinued, why is there an issue with anything proprietary? It would seem to me that if you don't sell this model anymore, then you really aren't loosing anything by supporting you customer base with files that aren't protecting anything currently sold...

Hey, Ken sorry I missed your call, as I remember I was on the phone with a customer, for quite a while when you called.
But I think I messed up and deleted your message before I took note of your number, and it would be a shot in the dark to try to call from my call log.
PM me your number or give me a call back please..

    Ken,

You can PM me your number as well. Ray is in Alaska, so he is probably sleeping right now. Did you check the points and make sure they are in the .035 range and straight?

As far as schematics, you will not see them for any other color welders (blue/red, old models or new). There are people that actually watch us and try to copy what we do all the time. To give them our older design would not be smart and we still use a lot of that design in the new designs as well. You will not see IPhone 1, 2 or 3 schematics out there since the 4G is out. Companies have to protect the products.

Well, I checked the table and it is not grounded.

Lowered the air pressure to 50 psi, no change in operation.

Pulled the cover and adjusted the gap to about 35/1000", it was about 50/1000".

Now the plasma arc cuts in/out in a rhythm...

So, it won't cut anything now.

Should I open the gap back wider even though it didn't work right at the wider gap?

    Any other ideas?

Ken, sounds like a possible air flow issue. Is the pressure holding when the air is flowing?

Ray, I have lots and lots of air, I am using this at the college where I work.

I put the switch in the test position and the air flows out of the nozzle continuously at a steady state - this is how I set the air for the desired psi when cutting.

So, I really don't think it is a psi or cfm issue.

    Any other ideas?

    TIA,

    Ken
