Newbie needs Plug and receptacle help

Im trying to get my 250ex going. I bought a Leviton NEMA 6-50 plug and receptacle. Im hoping some one can tell me which wires go where. For the receptacle I have two black wires and one green wire in the wall box. The everlast wire has black, white ,red and green. My garage was wired two years ago by a licensed electrician with a 50amp breaker and propper gauge wire. Please help.

The two black wires at the receptacle are your "hot" leads, and the green is your ground. Now for the welder, black and red are "hot", white is neutral, and green is ground.

Red is for 3-Phase only.

Hook the green to the rounded terminial on top, black and white to the other 2 side terminils.

Please follow the wiring that Ray posted for single phase 230vac. Cap the red wire and push it inside the plug. We have no neutral wire on our units.

Thankyou I wired it as per Ray's instruction. After spending 2 hours searching the forums I can see that this is an ongoing problem with conflicting information. Ive read the official explanation form Everlast as to why they do not supply a plug. I learned a long time ago playing football if your not sure who to hit and you dont hit anyone you will fail every time. Why not please 80 % of the people by supplying a standard plug or at least simple ( for boneheads like me ) instructions for a standard plug ? I can hear the coach now " hit somebody ....anybody "

Our units ship all over the world, not just in the US, so there are many plug configurations. The US alone has many. Sometimes a generator plug ends up in a box. But that plug will not make anyone happy either.

Heres my suggestion. Since the new units are wired to US standards and the three prong plug is in your words "the standard welder plug " why not include simple precise instructions for that set up on units sold in the US. At least this old goofus would have been happy. Thats one more than you've got now.

I am sorry you're not happy and you've made it clear. All we can do in tech support to help with questions by answering them.

You can call into sales and let them know you're not happy about not getting a plug of some kind.

Our support lines are open and the forum is as well (today is Sunday and we are here). And I did send you a link to what you could not find. Items like that are under technical bulletins. Ray did tell you how to wire it, I also posted to wire it as Ray instructed.

Our units will run 50-60Hz for outside of the US as well.

Actually the manuals (Downloaded) show the standard wiring for a twist lock. I’m working on a set up video that shows step by step how to wire several plugs, and I hope to include that in the manual.
Should be available soon. I realize that doesn’t help you now, but as Mike says we’re fairly easy to contact.

Granted I'm an new person here reading the posts on the machines. I have read many time is several places to download the manual and read it "BEFORE" your machine arrives. Lots of things to get ready while waiting on the UPS truck. Unless you are using 3-phase power, the red wire gets insulated. Don't connect the common on the walll plug. Now it to reinforce the point that Ray and Mike are making. If you are using a NEMA 50A, what type. You can choose from 6-50R, 10-50R and 14-50R. You see, there is not standard for a 50A welder plug, just standard NEMA plugs. Choose one and learn how to wire it.

Both of my welders and my plasma torch came with a NEMA 6-50 plug already installed. I'm guessing thats a popular size for single phase welders.
