Honestly I don't really expect to have healed enough to be doing much more than a little tig welding (maybe make my cooler tank) or plumbing up my radiator for my cooler. I'll be able to sit maybe for an hour by then If I can find a used tilt actuator on ebay cheap enough I will really eliminate the risk of sores by 75%. It just has to work with the Joystick and Control module In my chair.

Well Bitter Disabled flag waving seemed like a clear insult to me. But I'm man enough to inform, educate and let it go.

    Cheers Ken

Wow Mark, that was the best and humblest way to explain a persons thoughts I could have ever seen in type. Mickey

First off I come in peace. Not trying to get anything going and sounds like it is all settled, but will add this.

I was going add this, went back and read, and saw Mark already did.

    4) A project to you is a project to us. No one said it had to be finished before the end of the contest.
We count projects that are not complete all the time. I could get in the contest just on incomplete projects myself if I did not work here.

There's also no special interest on the projects. Guys make things I would never use or make, but it still counts to us. We are always fair, one contest Mark and I did not agree on the third place guy (tie for third). We talked, agreed on the third place winner (Oleg made the other guy a secret third place winner too if I recall).

The last contest there was only a one prize, after it ended, there was second prize and lots of third place 50% off winners. We do what we can on the contest to reward as long as we can afford it and no one is ever short changed as long as there is effort and they make the counts. And when drawn from the hat a guy with just the post count alone can when it.

On another note, Mark, Ray and I deal with customers from different walks of life all the time.

I will not mention a name, but a customer and now good friend and great welder is in a wheelchair. He was in bed for sometime for the bed sores because he broke his hip.. During that time he had ski cancer on his arms they had to dig out. He got out of the hospital and within a couple days, came down, 1.5 hours drive north of me, to bail me out of a project I should have not taken.

So I would hang in there, it all works out in the end. We never know who is going to win on the new contests, we used to judge the winners, now a drawing.

We are all a community here, and some don't know everything about the guy they are posting back and forth too. I personally can assure you that you're not alone and some actually have things worse.

I looked through the contest thread and see where you asked questions about it, but I don't see an actual contest entry. I guess you'd need to ask Performance (Mark).

Edit: I forgot to tell you this is the wrong thread... it's from the previous contest. Here's a link to the right one, just click on it > http://www.everlastgenerators.com/fo...e-250EXT/page2

PLEASE read the directions on the first page of the contest. There is nothing about going to facebook to like it...There are no other criteria that you have met either as far as I can tell.
You like our homepage of our website by clicking like at the top of the page. Then you also have to meet the posting requirements after you enter officially on the contest thread by following the form/formula you were given in the first post...

I'm sorry Mark I've enjoyed putting pix up for others to see projects I've done but I guess this computer stuff for joining the contest is just over my head. I'll just sit back and watch other peoples entrys and projects. Can't seem to do it right. Thanks again for your time though Mark. I should have sat back and learned all the buttons and then took off my water wings when I learned them and then jumped in. So I'll get comfy and maybe try later. Mickey

(unrelated to the last page or so)

I was thinking, since these contests are mostly incentives to get the # of forum posts up, and the fact that it dies around here after the contest is over for about 3 weeks, might it not be better to do a longer contest with a higher post count? like... quarterly or bi-annually for 3 mos and a 150 post qualifier or what have you. I think that might keep it active around here more consistently than the flurry of activity then nothing that has happened with the last two.

another way to get people to post more would be to offer a permanent incentive kind of deal, like... every get 50 posts or a qualifying project you 5% off(stackable or non, depends on how much you'd want to police it. the better the incentive, the more people will bend the rules). I don't think you'd need to do much in the way of an incentive to get people to keep posting, though.

The last contest lasted two months and required 75 posts. Too long of contest, too much of a commitment, and people lose interest...Participants in the forum receive various discounts from time to time.
We have a pretty good handle on the forum, and are not disappointed with the results. Activity has been rather good anyway and the community is building. Having been here for 3 years, participation has been steadily and solidly building. We do want input, but we have found more interest and more participation in shorter contests, rather than longer ones. When the goal is in sight and could be had by all, its easier to get more participation.

I noticed two very disappointed guys who thought they were included in the contest but in fact were not, because they didn't follow the instructions. I was thinking maybe some kind of "OK, you're in" confirmation via PM or post to each entrant, but that kind of hand-holding would require even more work from the mods. If they can't find or follow the instructions to begin with then they won't follow the "you're in when you get accepted" instruction.

Each entrant editting their original "I'm in!" post with their post count and project count was a great idea. There was a disturbing post about the possibility of revising a starting post count downward to fake the number of posts needed to qualify. Is that a real issue? I'm pretty sure it didn't happen in this past contest (I was watching posts and calculating odds of winning, just for grins) but if it's a threat some additional oversight may be needed.

    Dave,
Should we count the hanging chads, the dimpled ones or the ones that were double punched?

I think we are all adults (most of us are anyway)...The same rules apply to all, and all have a chance to ask if they don't understand.

Mods can see the original post if its been erased or edited if I remember right.

I guess I am one of the people you are talking and you are right I did not read the instructions and follow them, if your gonna be dumb you gotta be tough. I dont blame anyone but myself and I did not try to pull anything or revise any post so I don't get what your saying.

Don't feel bad. You are not alone. Every contest there is someone who doesn't read the rules or doesn't ask questions about it.

I don't like to see anyone DQ'd but then again, that's why we have the rules posted. I'd just wish I knew how to make that camel drink.

The first paragraph of my post is contradictory: at first I was thinking 25 guys signed up correctly, 2 did not; is 2 out of 27, roughly 7.5%, a big enough portion of the population for Everlast to graciously include a feedback loop? Then I answered my own question.

Cuda, in the second paragraph I was wondering out loud if somebody in a future contest could or might revise their count and whether it needed looking after. I was not suggesting you (or anybody else) did.

Hey, ok, I feel my name is all over this thread and I feel the thread down my back too, LOL. No, I didn't understand the terminoligy of the forum and like I said in my ruuuude rant, (not) I should have waited untill I learned where everything was and what things were named before I jumped in. ( Without waterwings). I guess you really don't need to change a thing just usuns unlearned need to be more computer savy anymore. You guys have been great and a great forum too. Mickey

    Mickey,

As I told Cuda, its not the first time or the last. I hate that people were DQ'd, but next time should be easy, as the rules won't change too much as far as the basics.
