Product Buying Guide Part 9
Rounding out our Alternating Current / direct current PowerTIG line is the venerable Everlast PowerTIG 250EX. It has been the mainstay of our product line since 2009. Outwardly, little has changed in the second generation, but over time the internal components have evolved in to a more rugged, streamlined design.
The IGBT module construction reduces weight, improves reliability, and improves serviceability should anything ever happen to go wrong internally. The High Pulse frequency of the Everlast PowerTIG 250EX at 500 Hz makes it well known throughout the industry. The AC frequency and balance control adjustments are also popular features.
The Alternating Current balance can be adjusted throughout the range of 10-90%. This is important to customers who want exceptional results on anodized aluminum. The unit also features excellent torch trigger control with up/down slope, and start/end amp adjustment. This allows fully functional use of the 2T and 4T settings. Of course, we can’t leave out the fact the unit features 60% duty cycle at 250 amps. It also will work with 1 or 3 phase 240 V input.
The Everlast PowerTIG 250EX is the only unit in our line to feature the low amp start on Alternating Current and on direct current. The low end start is around 5 amps if desired. One last feature that is worth noting is that the welder has a spot weld timer that helps to time spot welds so that the welds turn out perfect every time.
This is an excellent feature for tacking large sections of metal in a production environment. If you want exceptional results in anodized aluminum, the AC balance can be adjusted. Oh, and did I mention it is an excellent stick welder with the arc force control? With all these features combined, and the units excellent weld characteristics, you will find out why it is so popular when you try it.
