The latest generation of the Lightning MTS 275 carries compact, multi-process welding to a new level with new features and a more user friendly design. This all new unit features improved synergic function from previous models and simplified setup with more accurate settings than before. The Lightning 275 features more output than any of its current competitors with 275A of MIG output which makes it capable of short circuit and spray arc welding. The revised design removes all hidden menus and bottle necks during setup. All settings are visible on one page at one time, which helps the user to always know what to expect from the unit when welding. The improved PowerSET function allows the customer to enter basic operating parameters in MIG, TIG, or Stick mode, and automatically selects the proper Amps and Volts (where applicable) for the user. This new unit also features a two types of Flux-Cored operation with both gas shielded and gasless Flux-cored settings. Separate settings for Aluminum and Stainless are featured as well. As with the previous generations, it is still capable of operating on 120V if the unit needs to be carried to the jobsite. Of course, you'll have reduced output, but you will not suffer for lack of available duty cycle. As far as operating duty cycle at full-tilt output, the machine delivers a industry leading 60% duty cycle in MIG, TIG and Stick modes at maximum rated output. Stick mode output has improved to 220A as well and can weld with nearly any welding rod including E6010. Stepping down just a notch on power, in both MIG, and TIG modes at 200 Amps, you'll have a heavy industrial rating of 100% duty cycle. For Stick, at 175 Amps, you'll have 100% Duty Cycle available to weld the full 10 minute cycle. The unit also now includes push-pull gun capability which expands the job-site versatility of this welder.

NOTE: Use only with a generator rated by its manufacturer as "clean power" if using with a generator. Consult manufacturer of generator for certification. Everlast does not approve or endorse generator brands or models, however, if the damage to the welder occurs from use with a generator not labeled as producing clean power by its manufacturer is not warrantable. Typically clean power is represented as less than 5% THD. Generator Requirement: 120V: 5500 Watts; 240V: 13,000 Watts MINIMUM. When using a generator, failure to use a generator rated as clean power voids warranty.

For best wire feeding results with a smaller wire, purchase a 24 series gun for short circuit MIG. The 36 series gun is designed for heavy duty Spray arc welding and does not perform as well on short circuit welds. The 24 gun can be used up to 250A and will perform well for both short circuit and limited spray arc use. If using .035" wire, be sure to order the blue steel liner as well for best operation with the least amount of spatter.

* Single pass welds greater than 1/4" are not recommended as a sound welding technique in short circuit mode. To achieve max penetration on 240V, axial spray is necessary. Aluminum should always be welded in axial spray mode.

*Welding greater than 1/4" thick in a single pass is not typically recommended for the best quality welds. Multi-pass welds are usually performed on metal 1/4" or thicker. The reason for considering greater power on thicker metals is to more quickly overcome the heat dissapation rate of thicker metals so faster travel speeds and greater control can be obtained.

* When considering welding with stick, it is more important to factor electrode capacity than welding thickness capacity due to multi-pass requirements of thicker metals. Each electrode has a range of minimum and maximum thicknesses the electrode can weld, depending upon electrode manufacturer recommendations and formulations.
