Heavy Metal. Part 7 - Things To Look For In Welding Material Selection, Mill Scale

The MIG welding and Stick welding processes typically handle mill scale better than TIG as the deoxidizers in the wires and the more molten puddle that is created leave time for impurities to float to the surface and bond with the deoxidizers from the filler metal and in the flux before becoming entrapped in the weld. But there are other alternatives to having to combat mill scale before welding.

How A MIG Welding Machine Works - MIG Welding Basics | Everlast Welders

Time to spark the conversation, How a MIG welder works

We're going to discuss the basics of MIG welding and howa MIG Welder works.

MIG (Metal Inert Gas) is the welding process of using a continuous feeding wire that uses an electric arc. The consensus is the MIG welding is easier to learn as well as faster to lay down a weld.

Plasma Cutters, Basic Tips For Plasma Cutting

Basic tips for using plasma cutters

In the 1980's Plasma cutting emerged as a very effective way to cut sheet metal and plate. The process of plasma cutting consistes of a gas (air, oxygen, indert and others) blown at a high rate of speed out of the torch nozzle, an electrical arc turns some of that gas into plasma. The plasma is not hot enought to melt the metal being cut, often providing a much cleaner cut than typical method of oxyacetylene cutting.
